Curriculum Overview for Year 3 Spring Term 2026
|
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to Year 3 after what hopefully was a good break! We are so excited to be working with you and your children. This term there will be two adults working in the classroom: Miss Assad and Mrs Billesdon.
Here is some useful information about the Spring term:
Homework will usually be set on a Thursday and needs to be uploaded to Google Classroom by the following Thursday. The purpose of the homework will often be to reinforce something which has been taught in the classroom.
Our PE days are WEDNESDAY MORNING and TUESDAY AFTERNOON. Children must come to school wearing an appropriately labelled and named PE kit on those days. PE kits are: blue shorts, white T-shirt and plimsolls or trainers – a navy tracksuit is suggested for colder weather. Please remember that long hair should be tied back and earrings should not be worn on PE days.
Reading opens the doors for children to understand and create links with all areas of their learning. Within the Year 3 team and classroom, we are dedicated to sharing our love and passion for reading with the children through allocated story and poetry time. As part of this drive for reading, each child will take home an AR book and complete a quiz once they have read and understood the book. Children are welcome to do an AR quiz based on a book they have read at home if it is on the AR school system. Before half term we will be completing a STAR reading test to establish new reading bands.
Healthy snacks can be provided for morning breaks, packed lunches and after school. Please follow the recent guidance regarding what to provide: biscuits, sweets, chocolate and crisps should not be brought into school and all snacks must be nut free and not include sesame. Please provide your child with named water bottle.
Uniform: Your child is expected to wear full and correct, named school uniform and black shoes when they do not have PE. Children must NOT wear branded logos, jeans or brightly coloured outfits or shoes. Children need to bring an appropriate coat every day, as we go outside whatever the weather. Stud earrings are permitted but no other jewellery should be worn to school at any time. Please tie back long hair.
Please do not hesitate to come and speak to us about any worries or concerns, or if there is anything about which you require further information.
