Road Safety Week 17th - 21st November

Road Safety Week: Keeping Our Children Safe

Road crashes are the leading cause of death for children and young people worldwide. In the UK alone, more than six children are killed or seriously injured on the roads every day. This makes road safety education more important than ever.

Road Safety Week, a national event taking place from 17th November, is a chance to raise awareness and teach children the skills they need to stay safe—whether walking, cycling, or traveling in a vehicle. This year, the focus is on safe vehicles. Modern safety features, like seatbelts, child restraints, and advanced braking systems, can prevent accidents and reduce injuries, saving lives.

As parents and carers, you play a vital role in road safety. Please bear this in mind when coming to school next week, whether you’re driving, cycling, or walking. Every small action helps make the roads safer for our children.

In addition, the Borough is running a Free Child Car Seat Checking Event:

Friday 21st November, 10am – 3pm
Asda Colindale car park, NW9 0AS

This is a great opportunity to ensure your child’s car seat is fitted correctly and your little ones are as safe as possible on the roads.
